Abstract

The objective of this paper is to report a formative experience that took place in a public school with the primary school students of the ninth years which was applied by trainees of the Psychology course of Fundação Hermínio Ometto (UNIARARAS) in an extension project. This experiment involved the discussion of philosophy texts with the students so that they might make a critical evaluation about a few themes that had been proposed, such as the problems concerning freedom and the influence of cultural industry in their everyday lives. The organization and application of four workshops are here reported on which one may aim at obstacles and achievements on the objectives previously outlined. The theoretical framework adopted for the workshops comes from the writings of Kant, Adorno and Benjamin discussed by Psychology students in the subject of Philosophy of the first year of Graduation. It is concluded that the experience was extremely valuable because the students developed along it important reflections, although there was resistance in many moments. But these elements allowed to the Psychology students who were in charge of the project a more accurate knowledge of possibilities of the educational process nowadays, particularly with regard to the autonomy achievement.
