Abstract

The importance of communication in the work of the interdisciplinary health team is seen as a determinant the quality and safety of providing care to individuals. Patient safety has become a global trend in health care institutions in recent times, with effective communication being the goal to be achieved by the interdisciplinary team, as well as providing a harmonious working environment with harm-free care. The nurse responsible for the Hospital Infection Control Commission is the precursor in developing and working to implement the MS / ANVISA recommendations. However, often the nurse has more than one job to perform in addition to the position of care-related infection controller. Communication emerges as a facilitating instrument for the process of interaction between professionals, avoiding possible barriers that may otherwise cause any incidents or even an adverse event, and endangering the effectiveness of the CCIH nurse in patient safety. This study too aimed to identify and describe the importance of
effective communication by the CCHI nurse towards the multidisciplinary team, through literature review in electronic databases - Medline; Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (Lilacs) and Nursing Data (BDEnf), starting from the question “Why are there adverse events in the process, with all the information resources available to health agencies?”. The research has to underscore the valorization of the communication process as a basic and relevant component to the understanding of the CCIH recommendations. It is suggested that communication in the performance of nurses is one of the most important skills performed and an essential tool. Through effective communication that the CCIH can evaluate the performance of the multidisciplinary team in the care provided, and from this evaluation the professional can repair errors, increment measures and or reshape actions, promoting patient safety and minimizing adverse events.
