Abstract
Childhood is considered the most critical phase of a person's life. This phase is when children begin to develop their cognitive, biological, and psychosocial functions. Biological and environmental issues are implicated in this development. The family nucleus is essential in this process of social and mental development. This article analyzes the behavioral and cognitive consequences caused by the development of children and adolescents in institutional care. It relates this development to Neuropsychology through exploratory and explanatory analysis. It will provide the reader with greater familiarity with the problem studied, identifying the factors that determine or contribute to the occurrence of the phenomena studied. The methodology used was the Bibliographic Review of articles dealing with the topic, consisting mainly of books and scientific articles.
