Abstract

Phototherapy in the area of aesthetics can be used to treat
various dysfunctions, such as eyesight and pouches formed in the eye region. The skin has chromophores which are structures reached by light (LASER and LED) that absorb energy and, in this way, generate the therapeutic response. This study aims to verify the effects of LASER and LED on periorbital hyperpigmentation. The study had a female volunteer, aged 23, presenting periorbital hyperpigmentation, diagnosed and evaluated by means of facial anamnesis and computerized biophotogrammetry. Phototherapy sessions were performed with the MMOptics brand twice weekly, totaling 10 sessions. Through the images of computerized biophotogrammetry it was possible to verify that the area and perimeter of the region affected by periorbital hyperpigmentation decreased. It was concluded with this study that there was attenuation of periorbital hyperpigmentation after phototherapy. However, more practical studies are suggested to better define the parameters used.
